Do you think that Houston Alexander getting cut from the UFC was a bit harsh?

Dana White said he got cut from the UFC because of how he fought Kimbo Slice in the Ultimate Fighter Finale. Houston spent a lot of the fight (near the beginning) circling around Kimbo cautiously and attacking Kimbo’s leg with kicks. They eventually locked up to fight but this circling around went on for a long time, and got to be a bit weird after a while.

Dana White seemed disgusted by this – as I guess he expected Houston to engage Kimbo more. But, do you think that it’s harsh that Houston would get cut from the UFC because of this? After all, it was his strategy to keep his distance and attack Kimbo’s leg with kicks.

What do you think??

    H. Alexander was never very good and a jerk. He didn’t do anything to Kimbo and almost seemed like a joke. I don’t think it’s too harsh simply because he hasn’t really had too many impressive wins.

Meh , I don’t know if it was really that harsh. He was keeping way to much distance the whole fight. UFC is competitive it’s how it is. Too bad for houston.

I think it is harsh. However, I also think it was a good choice. Dana counted on Houston to deliver a great fight. The match up was suppose to be an exhibition of two entertaining brawlers. But, it takes two to tango, and Houston did not deliver. I think he would have been given another chance if he had more skill and more to offer in the way of crowd appeal.
He is a tremendous athlete, but i think the kimbo fight exposed him as just an athlete and not a true fighter. I did expect him to push the action more. But he just looked scared. In the battle of brawlers he came up short.
If his strategy was to attack the legs, he should have done a better job. He did not even use good combinations to set up the leg attack. Aside from that, he made Captain “no ground game” kimbo look like a gracie. He did show good take downs though.

no it wasnt harsh, houston alexander is a one dimensional fighter who only has heavy hands and solid knees in the clinch. does he have some impressive victories? yeah. . . . he did finish keith jardine and alessio sakara but since then he has lost 4 straight fights in the ufc. no one should be able to stay in the ufc or any other top line promotions like strikeforce, dream, and sengoku with 4 straight defeats especially if only one of those 4 defeats was against a top line fighter and that was his loss to thiago silva. there are definetly other things that ufc did that are alot harsher like cutting jake rosholt for getting caught in a sub after controling the fight with kendell grove and not even trying to resign dan henderson just because he isnt a huge ppv draw

Dude. . . He lost 4 straight fights in the UFC. . . . most people get cut after losing 2.
